Strengthening Social Compliance Systems and worker-manager engagement

Following the baseline evaluations and the development of improvement plans with private sector partners (PSPs) in the palm oil and garment sectors, the MY Voice team continued its activities between September and December 2024. These efforts were guided by the plans established by the companies to support their improvement initiatives.

PSP participants in SCS trainings

For the garment PSP, we conducted training sessions on Sistem Pematuhan Sosial (Social Compliance System atau SCS) management system categories, focusing on Assessing Risks and Impacts, Policies and Procedures, dan juga Corrective Action Plans. These sessions were designed to support the review and enhancement of their internal policies. In the palm oil sector, we initiated training on grievance mechanisms, with particular emphasis on the UNGP effectiveness criteria.

Additionally, we developed educational materials to promote awareness of social compliance systems and the importance of worker voice among PSP staff and workers.

In the next quarter, MY Voice will continue collaborating with the PSPs while beginning to extend support to their suppliers. To engage a broader private sector audience in the palm oil and garment sectors, we launched a series of training programs for 2025. These include an introduction to social compliance systems, followed by critical topics such as living wages and the prevention and remediation of forced labour. We also introduced a new programme, TenSquared, which provides practical, hands-on training to address social compliance challenges in health and safety and grievance mechanisms.
